My asian obsession story

If you havent noticed im kind of an Asian freak, like otaku but with all of asia pretty much. So I thought it would be nice to take a journey through the time line of my hobby. Lets reminisce shall we...

It all started when I was a young kid. My grandpa was full japanese and his mother (my great-grandmother) was an immigrant from the old plantation days of Hawaii. As a kid i would spend more time at my grandpa's house then my own. This was where i was first introduced to my asian culture. Whenever i was there i would always watch this show Crayon Shin-Chan with my grandpa. i guess you could say that was my first anime, from crayon shin-chan i started watching kikaida along with other asian influenced shows like power rangers. at the time there wasnt alot of asian presence in the media so i settled for whatever was on kiku. i was amazed that people could communicate in a language other than english (keep in mind i was still 4). that was when i began getting interested in learning other languages.

Sixth grade is when i started getting serious about my hobby. before i just watched whatever was on, but that was before i met paula shiraki. she was a grade above me and i thought she was kind of a weird kid when i first saw her. it wasnt long before i started hanging out with her and her crew and they are the ones who introduced me to manga. i never knew these existed, books and comics of the same show i watch on tv. Dragon Ball Z, Knights of the Zodiac, Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho the list goes on and on. As my obsession grew and grew i met more people who had the same niche as i did, actually my first girlfriend i met through a friend and we hit it off because we both had the same hobbies. Kinda Nerdy but it works.

As Manga and Anime got more and more poular my intrest for it waned. i didnt like being part of a majority, honestly i still hate it. Paula and the rest of my friends felt the same. It was a normal day in the morning... meet up in the cafeteria hang out all that fun stuff. but then something caught my ear, they had been listening to something i had never heard before. The guitar was incredible unlike anything in our country at the time, then i listened further. The song was not in english... rather it was in japanese. At the time i didnt know it but this small discovery would change me forever.

Cain and Abel

So with summer vacation comes a whole bunch of free time. Last summer my free time was spent on maple story. This summer, even though i am a bit more busy, gives way to a new addiction.

Cain and Abel is the story of two brothers Lee Seon Woo and Lee Cho In. Seon woo has always been jealous of Cho In for taking everything that was good in his life away from him. As a child Cho In's parents suffered a deadly crash leaving him an orphan. When the Lee's took him in the father shunned Seon Woo completely. As adults Seon Woo and Cho In have become accomplished surgeons, but even with Seon Woo's intense training he is still in the shadows of his naturally gifted younger brother.

This show has a natural progression that starts off familiar then branches off and becomes it's own story. The acting is superb and the story will always leave you begging for more after the ending cliffhangers. The plot also serves as political commentary over south korean political issues. definetly a must see for anyone who likes their house, with a dash of grey's anatomy, and a side order of prison break.

Wow im really getting late on these blog posts. I mean I always say im gnna update more often but I always get too lazy. kind of a shame too because i get so many good ideas but when it comes to putting these words on blogger it just never happens. Well the class of 2009 is finally on their way to the rest of their lives. school is definetly not gonna be the same without them. especially since some of them have been like family since the first day of my freshman year. you guys really made high school memorable for me and its gonna be hard without you guys. the first day seniors were gone i walked to out to the library and it was just empty, not even alex was there and the band room is a damn lame alternative. i really mean it when i say you guys are some of the best people i've met in my entire life. i cant thank you all enough for everything.

Its gonna be Alex and I next year though, and i know this isnt the last time we see you guys

It's heartbreaking...

Todays was the first day the seniors weren't in school. I was left in the back of the library alone. No one was there, it was completely empty from corner to corner. I still remember my first day of high school not knowing where to go or who to hang out with. Walking around campus i saw them... my family of sophomores [at the time] the people who made my freshmen year better than i could've ever thought. I remember that Hot Hot Heat concert where we all saw each other... so many memories. As the years went on you stopped coming to the library but i still considered you family. this past year felt empty without more of you guys there, it still hasnt sunk in yet. It's just so heartbreaking knowing you guys won't be there tomorrow. i love you guys so much and i know no matter where any of you go you'll succeed
